A lot of coaches who work for someone else aren’t able to follow through on their plans.
If you are like them then you might be thinking that there’s just too much to get it all done.
And maybe, you are choosing the easier options to check things off your to-do list and never get to the “big” stuff.
You choose to do something like answer emails, watch and listen to podcasts and coaching rather than work on written coaching, content writing, new projects, etc.
Those other “big” tasks just seem way too hard and daunting, plus you don’t have enough time to complete them so you should save them for when you have enough time.
You are not able to actually make progress on your work projects or on anything new and you never have enough time for your family or yourself.
It feels like you are ALWAYS working and always exhausted and never getting enough done.
Does this sound familiar?
A lot of coaches who are unable to follow through on their plans have something in common.
This is something I see in my clients on the daily.
They think they are trying to avoid the “big” tasks because they think they are harder and going to take a lot of time.
However, what they are actually trying to avoid is what they are going to tell themselves during those tasks.
Seriously, that is what we are always trying to avoid.
Think about it, a task is only hard depending on the story we have about it.
That’s why the SAME exact task for one person could be easy and enjoyable but excruciating for others because the stories they have about that task is so different.
Some things you might be telling yourself that make you avoid a “hard” task:
- I’m not good at this
- I don’t know if I am actually helping
- I don’t know if this is what I should be doing
- I’m not as good as….
The actual task isn’t hard for you.
Even if that really feels true, I promise you it isn’t.
You being mean to yourself before sitting down to do the task, while working on it, AND after you are done is what is SO hard.
So what’s the solution?
Eliminate being mean to yourself before sitting down to do the task and rewrite and reframe it something that’s more useful.
You do this by finding out where this story of not being good enough came from and write a new story.
You build your self-confidence by continuing to show up even if you’re fearful.
You develop a courage practice that allows you to accomplish ANYTHING on your calendar and therefore any project or result you are trying to create.
If you complete these steps, it will change everything for you.
You will no longer be worried that things won’t get done AND you will build a strong relationship with yourself.
Then ultimately make your goals/progress guaranteed, WHILE being able to make time for your family and yourself.
The dream you’ve been waiting for and reaching for potentially for years.
